While it may not seem like it, from my lack of personal style photos, I am still pushing myself to dress my best on almost a daily basis. On occasion I do dress just purely for comfort, in grubby non-blogging worthy outfits. But when I am going to work, I still dress it up. It is my own way of keeping my spirits up. It gives me a boost throughout my day when I really like my outfit. It helps to keep me happy and we could all use a bunch of happiness right now, right? I think so.

I am teaching online from my classroom. So I stand in my empty room, face an unflinching camera, and try to do my middle school math lessons for my students who are sitting at home trying their best to learn. It is tough for everybody all around. But it is somehow working. My students are impressing the heck out of me!

Oh and me being transgender, a total and complete non-issue. My largest challenge is trying to cope with the large amount of stress inducing anxiety that all of this causes me. Basically I have had to learn to do my job, of 25 years, in a totally and completely new way. That has caused me to struggle with my confidence and thus my awesome fem voice is struggling as well. But my lovely outfits are helping me to feel better and have the strength to keep pushing forward.

This particular outfit worked very well on camera. I even got compliments from students on the skirt, which is unusual. What I am trying to do is to take cues from one of my favorite actresses, Lucille Ball. She would always chose something with a nice pattern that popped on black and white TV. Zoom is not quite as bad as black and white TV, but the quality can be more than a little bit sketchy at times.

With this type of poofy skirt, I really like matching it with a nice tight waist belt and a tight tank top. That way it shows the bit of curves and shape that I have actually, finally began to develop. However wearing just a plain black tank on Zoom can be challenging as it can make you look like a big black block of ugh. I happen to have my Zoom camera setup far enough away from me during the meetings that it shows my entire outfit while I am at my giant internet connected TV that I teach from. I really wanted to match this outfit though with some overly large silver statement piece of a necklace, which I don’t own. So I paired it with a simple chain and one of my favorite pendants, a dragonfly.

Funny enough an art project I began in my class as a demonstration for my art students is a giant paper mache dragonfly. I’m sure that I will share the pictures here at some point.

Okay that’s it!
